Staying warm in MN can be extremely challenging. With temperatures dropping down to negatives, we at A Pane in the Glass Construction would like to give our Minneapolis MN customers some tips to keep their homes warm this winter.
Minneapolis Window Installation | Keeping warm this winter – quick tips.
In this blog, we aim to give you some great tips to keep your homes warm this cold season from sealing up your windows to dealing with drafts. These are tips we have collected from our customers and staff’s experience over the years. We hope they are helpful to you.
Use felt weather-stripping on your double hung windows where one window overlaps the other, and also on the window sills. If you have tiny crevices in your windows, use rolled up drawer liners to stuff the gaps to prevent air loss. If you see small cracks around your home, you could make use of rope caulk to fill them. Window insulation films are also a great idea to prevent heat loss during winter months. Switch out your curtains with thicker darker shades to add an extra layer to your windows. Another great tip is to add thin foam padding to your current curtains. Lastly, use an oscillating fan running in low speed to circulate the warm air in your house and prevent it from escaping through the windows.
